I Don't Need Security Guards to Prove My Innocence |

· One min read

Innocence is a discourse of power, not an item to be claimed.

Today in the courthouse lobby, I was stopped by two security guards who demanded to check my phone and told me I could not leave without inspection. They said a judge suspected I had recorded audio in the lobby. Later, when the police arrived, the court officer changed his explanation and claimed it was "just to clear my name" and that they had not restricted my freedom. After the situation was clarified, I left the scene with the police's consent not to check my phone, in tears.

I was indeed very upset for a long time.
